Runaway train crosses Canadian border - VIDEO

by S.J. Velasquez  •

A train car broke free from Niagara Falls' CSX train yard and rolled into Canada on Aug. 12, and nobody really did anything about it for 11 hours.

Now, U.S. and Canadian law enforcement officials are investigating the incident, the Niagara Gazette reports.

A CSX representative told the Niagara Gazette that vandalism is suspected. The belief is that the vandal pulled the pin connecting the train car to other cars and released the loose car's breaks, allowing it to roll into the neighboring country. It took 11 hours for law enforcement agencies to respond to the international incident. Authorities determined that the car was empty and deemed not a threat.
