FC Buffalo’s record of one win, four draws and seven losses in 2012 in the NPSL forced the club’s ownership to make major changes in the Blitzer organization.

No goal, wide right—Buffalonians have survived some rough sports situations over the years, no doubt, but sports journalists and bloggers just love an opportunity to rub some salt in the symbolic wounds of Western New Yorkers.

UB’s Natey Adjei taken in third round of 2013 CFL Draft

blog by Ben Tsujimoto  •   •

Sure, the Canadian Football League is a far cry from the NFL, so the achievements of Steven Means, Willie Moseley and Gio Ozkhan outweigh the third round selection of University at Buffalo wide receiver Natey Adjei’s selection by the Toronto Argonauts.

Still, we know a little bit about UB’s receiving corps. Alex Neutz is tremendous, Fred Lee is primed for a crucial senior season,…

If you’ve been watching the NBA Playoffs over the last few weeks—maybe you’re rooting for Carmelo’s first NBA title, enjoy Stephen Curry’s boyish looks or carefully monitoring the Derrick Rose injury situation—perhaps you’ve realized that there are simply very few Buffalo connections to the NBA.

There were recent Western New York stars like Jonny Flynn from Niagara Falls and St.…
