A Rumble of Hope - VIDEO

blog by Ben Tsujimoto  •

Chris Rumble, who plans to play hockey at Canisius College this coming fall, isn’t content with beating leukemia by himself—he wants others to share his hope for the future. Share they did, especially through the above YouTube video which has accumulated nearly 2.3 million views.

At Seattle Children’s Hospital in early May, Rumble—suffering from an immature form of leukemia himself—decided to shoot a video of other hospital patients and employees lip-synching to “Stronger” by Kelly Clarkson. To say the video is inspiring and heartwarming would be an understatement.

“For me, personally, I try not to let anyone see my pain,” he said on TODAY on MSNBC.com. “A lot of the kids are much younger and don’t understand what they’re going through.”

Rumble makes an appearance himself in the video from 2:07 until 2:26 (he’s in the orange shirt.) There’s no word on whether he’ll recover in time for school in the fall, but we obviously wish him a speedy recovery. The blue-liner spent two seasons in the North American Hockey League with the Wenatchee Wild before committing to the Golden Griffins for the Fall 2012 season.

(Canisius College Athletics was unable to comment because Rumble is not yet an official student-athlete with the school).
