Allen Street Table Tennis Championships: Week 1 results

blog by Ben Kirst  •

The Allen Street Table Tennis Tournament opened on Sunday night at Allen Street Hardware, and what do you know—it went pretty well. A full slate of 16 players battled for the nightly prize of $50 and the right to participate in the final, $1,000 championship round on June 16. Congratulations to Lucas Tait, who advanced through the bracket to defeat Stephen Weiss (we’re pretty sure he was not the Florida Panthers forward) for the first qualifying title of the tournament.

Here’s the official bracket from Sunday, Feb. 23:

Full disclosure: I played in the tournament on Sunday and lost in the second round. The stocky fellow in the black hoodie in the photo below is me. ATHLETIC.
