The next best thing to beach volleyball will be hitting up Buffalo next week.

The 2012 Beach Tennis USA National Championships will be taking place from August 3 to 5 at Woodlawn Beach State Park. This is the Official Beach Tennis USA event to determine the Champions of the United States in the Open, Amateur and Junior Levels.

The event is sanctioned by the ITF, world governing body of beach tennis. The winners in the Men’s and Women’s Open divisions (US teams only) will receive round trip airfare to Aruba to play in the BTA International Beach Tennis Event.

Not looking to take on some national champions? The event is also hosting a few amateur competitions that anyone can enter to learn more about the sport and the game itself. Take a look at the weekend’s schedule below.


Friday August 3, 2012
FUN DOUBLES—6 p.m. (beginners) cost $10.00

Saturday August 4th, 2012
OPEN DOUBLES (all teams) 10:00 AM Check in time Men & Women*
* All teams in the Amateur competition are invited to participate in the Open Doubles at No Cost.

AMATEUR SINGLES 12:30 PM Check in time Men & Women

JUNIOR SINGLES 12:30 PM Check in time 16U & 12U

Sunday August 5th, 2012
AMATEUR DOUBLES 10:00 AM Check in time Men & Women

JUNIOR DOUBLES 10:00 AM Check in time 16U & 12U

OPEN SINGLES 10:00 AM Check in time Men & Women

OPEN MIXED 12:30 PM Check in time

AMATEUR MIXED 12:30 PM Check in time

Entry fees are $25 for one event, $35 for multiple events and $75 for a family package. All players will be given a 2012 Membership to Beach Tennis USA, the American governing body for ITF Beach Tennis and tennis paddles will be provided.
