Coach K out as FC Buffalo manager

The FC Buffalo Blitzers’ coaching situation has been in limbo since the close of a 2012 campaign that saw the team miss the NPSL post-season, the lone squad to miss out in the league’s Midwest-Great Lakes Conference.
A first step toward clarity was announced Friday evening, as the Blitzers announced that head coach Dan Krzyzanowicz would not be invited to return for the 2013 season. “Coach K,” who also leads D3’s Medaille College in the fall, compiled a record of six wins, five ties and 13 losses in his tenure with FC Buffalo.
Although Krzyzanowicz’s accumulation of 23 points in 24 matches was actually a decline from his predecessor, current University at Buffalo assistant Jim Hesch, who went 6-4-2 (22 points) in his lone season at the helm. The highlight of Krzyzanowicz’s time with the Blitzers was directing the 5-1 thumping of English club Bedlington Terriers in front of 3,821 at Robert E. Rich All-High Stadium, perhaps the most memorable match in the Queen City’s scattered post-Blizzard soccer history.
The Blitzers’ organization has been tight-lipped about possible replacements, even extending the invitation to applicants to apply by emailing .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). At this stage, it seems unlikely that the job is accepted by Canisius College head coach Dermot McGrane, even though the former Niagara University coach has his Griffs off to a scorching 6-1-2 start.
