Mitchell Watt punctuates No. 1 play on SportsCenter’s Top 10

blog by Ben Tsujimoto • July 18, 2012 @ 9:00am
Former Buffalo Bulls center Mitchell Watt is no stranger to highlight reel plays, but his efforts as a member of the Memphis Grizzlies’ summer league team are a lot more visible at a national level than his exploits as a Bull.
While journeyman guard Jeremy Pargo deserves most of the credit for the above highlight—two sharp crossovers and a flashy no-look pass were eye-catching—it was Watt who finished off the sequence with an authoritative dunk.
As part of the Las Vegas Summer League, which features top NBA draft picks, undrafted free agents (like Watt), players from overseas and basically any player NBA decision-makers deem worthy of a shot, Watt has averaged 18 minutes, 8 points and 4.5 rebounds for the 1-1 Grizzlies. He plays next at 6:30 p.m. Friday, and the game can be watched online or on NBATV.
Flash back to Jan. 2011, where a noticeably more slender Watt flatly rejected Kent State’s Rodriquez Sherman at the rim, then sprinted down to the opposite end of the floor to receive a quick dish from Byron Mulkey before slamming angrily on the Flashes’ Mark Henniger.
