Pat Kane’s Switzerland roommie: mom

Life’s a little boring in Switzerland for Buffalo-born NHL sensation Pat Kane, according to his new roommate—his mom.
Due to the current state of the NHL—the lockout will last at least until the new year—26 of the league’s players have temporarily moved to Switzerland to play hockey. That includes Kane, Chicago Blackhawks’ star player, who brought along his mother for the time being.
“I cook for him every day. There’s only like five stations on television. There’s not much really to do. It’s kind of lonely,” Donna Kane told the Wall Street Journal earlier this week.
Patrick Kane and fellow NHL-er Tyler Seguin of the Boston Bruins are playing in the city of Biel, where residents speak German and French. For about a month, Kane and his mother have lived in a three-bedroom apartment with only two weeks worth of clothing, he told WSJ.
“I’m really surprised I’ve been here this long,” he said in the interview.
The Kanes haven’t seen much excitement since arriving in Switzerland. The NHL player has essentially turned in his badboy card for low-key nights watching American TV shows on a laptop with his mother, who drives her son to the rink and watches all his games, texting updates to loved ones back in Buffalo.
