Quirky blonde takes the MAAC: Day 1

Katie and Aly at Canisius College's Koessler Athletic Center

As you’re reading this, I am already well on my way to the MAAC tournament to support the Canisius College Golden Griffins in what I’m sure is going to be a nail-biting conference. Waking up at 5:00 a.m. is not my idea of a good time, but rooting on my alma mater is.

Katie at Canisius vs. SU

Canisius College is my home away from home, and being a cheerleader for the men’s and women’s basketball teams during my time there was hands down the most memorable experience of my undergraduate years. I graduated from Canisius last May, but that hasn’t kept me from going to every men’s home basketball game this season, plus taking road trips to Syracuse and Detroit for two close match-ups. Attending the conference tournament, this time as a fan, was a no-brainer.

Here’s what you can expect: If you’ve ever watched me learn to shoot a rifle, fail miserably at an ice cream eating contest or any of my other wacky adventures, you know that 1.) I’m up for anything, and 2.) my life is a series of klutzy, awkward and mildly dangerous events. This weekend road trip to the MAAC with my roommate, Aly, and Buffalo.com’s Ben T. will be no exception.

So take the trip with me as I document my awkward encounters through pictures and short videos and host it all on Buffalo.com.
