Run for it!

Every year you tell yourself you’ll run more. You’ll run so frequently that you’ll actually enjoy it.
It doesn’t happen that way, does it? By the time running season is in full swing, you leer bitterly at the skinny joggers who seem to run for miles on end, breaking into a sweat that looks more like morning dew than drippy, salty body water.
Don’t let this discourage you. It’s never too late for taking up running (or, in my case, jogging slowly). Here are a few examples of local races that are a lot less scary than a marathon:
MMA 5K: 6:30 p.m. June 3, South Buffalo
Susan G. Komen WNY Race For The Cure: 10 a.m. June 11, Delaware Park Rose Garden
Wegman’s, St. Jude Awesome 5K: 9:30 a.m. June 18, North Tonawanda
Run for Rover : 10 a.m. July 10, LaSalle Park Pavilion, Buffalo
St. John Vianney Kickoff Run: 6:30 p.m. July 21, St. John Vianney R.C. Church, 2950 Southwestern Blvd., Orchard Park
This is just a sampling of the races you can enter all throughout the region.
