Nothing like a good offseason workout.
Despite rumors of an imminent NHL lockout, that hasn’t stopped Sabres centre Cody Hodgson from staying in top shape. Training at the Gary Roberts High Performance Centre in Toronto, Hodgson is set up with a specific workout geared towards his strengths and problem areas in order to improve his game.
The program is run by master trainer, Gary Roberts, a former professional hockey player with 21 years in the NHL and a Stanley Cup ring from 1989. Since his retirement, he has been a top performance trainer for many professional athletes including Steven Stamkos, Jeff Skinner, Jordan Staal and Steve Downie among other prospects and junior players.
Roberts’ program not only trains with proper technique and a focus on efficiency, but it has an extensive nutrition component as well. Meal planning, pre-workout and post-workout meal suggestions, healthy shopping education and food preparation are all part of the process.
Take a look at the Buffalo Sabres video below, about Hodgson’s offseason training in Toronto.
