Coming off a hot December, the Red Wings (15-7-1) are looking for their seventh straight win against the Sabres (13-10-1) tonight at First Niagara Center. With a team that is incredibly healthy—they are only missing Patrick Eaves who has a broken jaw from a slap shot against Nashville last Saturday—the Sabres are going to have to pick up a lot of slack. The next and final meeting between the two teams will be on Jan. 16 in Detroit.

November was rough on Buffalo in terms of injuries, and they led the league with the most players out. This seemed to be a determining factor as they came up with a 7-6-1 record. But with injuries came call-ups from Rochester. Zack Kassian, Corey Tropp, TJ Brennan, Paul Szczechura, Brayden McNabb and Drew MacIntyre from the Rochester Amerks all received playing time to take over for the injured team. The most recent call up for tonight’s game is Joe Finley, a 6-foot-8, 260-pound defenseman who will fill in for Jordan Leopold. His size and reach should result in an automatic advantage over other players.

Although Ryan Miller had gone through a couple full practices this week, Jhonas Enroth will be starting in goal tonight. Ruff did not rule out the possibility for Miller playing between the pipes tomorrow against Nashville. Miller will be the back-up for Enroth in any case that he needs to be relieved. Things are also looking good for Tyler Ennis (ankle injury), and Patrick Kaleta (groin injury) who will both be returning to the line-up tonight.

The Sabres have also started a new “TwitterView” series where fans can tweet in questions to a selected player and find out some interesting facts about the boys. Here is their first TwitterView with Derek Roy.
