It looks like the lockout is almost indefinite but hockey fans in Buffalo didn't seem to mind on Friday night. The Buffalo Science Museum held it's annual Bubble Hockey Tournament this past Friday night courtesy of Ice and Labatt Blue. 64 teams consisting of fans of the famous bubble hockey game (a.k.a. Super Chexx) came out to test their skills against fellow Buffalonians at the Buffalo Science Museum last night. Not only did the locals show up but also fans from New Jersey and Mass. made the journey as well.
If you grew up in/around ice rinks like I did then you know exactly how exciting a bubble hockey tournament can be. The tournament started at around 6:30 p.m but lasted for many hours. Teams consisting of men and women competed for not only the top prize (NY Yankee tickets) but also for the bragging rights. What would hockey be without some blood? Yes, there was even a minor injury in the first round which made the game a bloody mess. Even the losers were entertained because even if you lost, you still won (thanks to the people over at Labatt Blue).
Strictly Hip kept the crowd going all night with some excellent tunes and Labatt kept the people going all night thanks to their frosty beverages. Sit back, grab a cold one, and take a glance at the 2013 Bubble Hockey exoerience. If you missed out on the tournament, no worries at all. Labatt Blue is planning many tournaments around the area, just check your local listings (internet) and stay updated for more information.
