The Buffalo Bandits had a rough season last year and, by the looks of their home opener, it looked destined to continue into this year as well. That was until last night at the First Niagara Center when the Buffalo Bandits hosted the Toronto Rock in what turned out to be a great game of lacrosse between two rivals.
The game started off a bit slow for the home team as they went into the second quarter down 4-0 but that would all change soon enough. The crowd of about 11,400 people began to get loud which would end up being the turning point in the game. Buffalo went into halftime down 6-2 but did not let that discourage them from coming out of the locker room and playing a strong second half.
They played great in both the third and fourth quarter and would end up taking the game away from the Toronto Rock with a final score of 12-10. It was the first home victory of the season and also the first time the Bandits have won in Buffalo since February 28, 2013 (also against the Toronto Rock).
The Bandits would not have been able to come away with this victory without the help of their goaltender Anthony Cosmo. He started off his night letting in four goals but would end up stopping 54 of 63 shots, leading his team to victory and also walking away with the MVP honor of the game.
Buffalo hopes to make this a dual win weekend as they head out on the road to take on Philadelphia this Sunday (January 12th). Meanwhile, make sure to check out our gallery of photos with tons of fan shots and even a bunch of game shots as well.
