Canisius thumps Niagara at sold-out KAC - PHOTOS

by Don Nieman  •

It was cold outside, but hot inside Canisius’s Koessler Athletic Center as the Niagara University Purple Eagles—boasting the nation’s Division I leading scorer, Antoine Mason—invaded the home of the Canisius Griffins and fell to the Griffs 87-74.

The Griffs with their own top gun, Billy Baron (Division I’s third-leading scorer—and some strong work underneath had control of the game from the beginning.

The Canisius student body in the “C-Block” was loud and expressive as Baron and Mason put on an aerial display that no matter for whom you were cheering you had to enjoy their performances.

Baron was hotter in the first half as he slowed down a tad as he lost some time to care for a cut over his left eye in the second half while Antoine Mason came on strong in the same period.

Canisius was the better team on this night but Niagara and Canisius, when they get together, really put on a great show.
