Bills fans drop the ball with ‘Lambeau Lee’ - VIDEO

by Ben Tsujimoto  •

You can't blame Buffalo Bills tight end Lee Smith for his excitement. The second-year receiver -- who's primarily an in-line blocker when he's used -- hauled in a two-yard pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick late in the third quarter to give the Bills a short-lived 12-7 lead. The grab was only Smith's second career touchdown -- his first at Ralph Wilson Stadium -- so you can understand his ecstasy at the opportunity to leap into the blue-and-red clad Bills faithful.

Until no one caught him.

Above is the video of a failed leap from "Lambeau Lee," who inexplicably just fell back-first into the first row behind the end zone. Here are a few potential excuses that the slew of fans "responsible" may have had:

-- "The commotion knocked my furry buffalo hat over my eyes and I couldn't see Smith jumping!" (If you look closely, there really is a furry buffalo hat.)
-- "Is that Jay Riemersma? It can't be, right? Jay, what are you doing out there?" (Confusion often results in failure).
-- "It's not C.J. Spiller touching the ball so I'm boycotting anyone jumping into the stands." (Fair enough. Why would you give the NFL's most elusive rusher the ball near the goal-line?)
-- "He probably has Gailey germs! I don't want to get fired on Monday." (I guess they're healthier than Wade Phillips' germs, but BARELY.)
-- "But I don't want to spill beer on his jersey!" (The most likely reason, honestly.)
