Stayin’ on your Stevie Johnson
The off-season is the perfect time for Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson to further his hip-hop career, and he's working with the right folks. Rapper Game, who's currently piecing together his fifth studio album, joined forces with SJ13 to release the track "Run it Back" through producers NOC.
Game, Johnson and NOC documented the entire process of creating the beat through plenty of studio footage, including some give-and-take between the California rapper and the East Coast football star. According to Kat's post in late March (linked below), Game was blown away by Johnson's natural rap ability -- and while Game is still obviously the smoother of the duo -- Stevie looks quite comfortable behind a mic. SJ13's black Nike "Lazy but Talented" sweatshirt probably made Buffalo head coach Chan Gailey wince a little bit, but Johnson's one of the more stylish of the Bills players and it's not at all representative of his work ethic. I can't quite get used to the piercing on his cheek, however.
Several professional athletes are referenced in "Run it Back," including current Buffalo Bills Shawne Merriman and Ryan Fitzpatrick, NBA star Steve Nash, boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, Houston Texans running back Arian Foster and the Chicago Bears' Devin Hester. During the studio process, Game thought SJ13 was wrapping about veteran NBA star Shawn Marion, not the Bills' Merriman.
