Learn your fashion ABCs with our style and beauty series, taking a look at trends, local shops and ideas—one letter at a time.
“Alphabetical Style” will break down a weekly list of five trends pertaining to the featured letter. From clothing pieces and accessories to hair styles and makeup, we’ll cover it all. Take a look at our “R-trends” including ribbons, ruffles, rhinestone nails, retro knots and red pants.
Ribbons: an often overlooked hair accessory, hair ribbons are not just for little girls. A chic addition to a loosely styled look, add a ribbon as a fastener, headband or to cover up a small hair tie.

Ruffles: a common trend in Prabal Gurung’s soon-to-be-released line for Target, ruffles are making a big comeback this spring with feminine styles and soft lines. Hitting stores on Feb. 10, this may be Target’s best designer collection yet.

Rhinestone nails: for a luxe look, you can go daring and glue tiny stones on yourself, but theres also an easier option for blinged-out fingers. These Essie strips are like a sticker with polish and print already included.

Retro knots: if you want an alternative to a sleek pony or sock bun, these retro knots are where its at. Splitting your hair low into two small sections, twist the hair and then fasten securely with a few bobby pins.

Red pants: while everyone is still rocking dark denim skinny jeans, add a pop of color to your wardrobe instead. Red statement pants will get all eyes turning and are easily paired with a simple black top and gold accents.
