Buffalo ranked least fashionable? We beg to differ

Here is my “Really?! with Seth & Amy” moment, Bundle.
In an article published by Bundle, a data-generating site to discover where people spend money, it was concluded that Buffalo ranked as the least fashionable city in America. Really, Bundle? Really? After doing a little research, I found the way data was compiled for this “fashionable cities list” to be a bit skewed. According to the article,
To do this, we selected the 50 largest cities by population in our data set and created a fashion-conscious index, with 1.0 being average. We based our index on the percentage of “fashion-conscious households” in our sample, which we defined as households that had at least four transactions at top-end designer merchants in the past 30 months.
So the determining factor really wasn’t “fashion” in this study was it, Bundle? It was which cities were dropping the most cash on expensive items, such as this unpleasant Prada shoe.
Here in the Queen City, we may be a bit biased on our own fashions, but finishing last seems a bit of a stretch. The fashion scene in Buffalo is thriving, with more events taking place than I even have time to cover. With our own designers, fashion shows, boutiques, and fashion models, the style scene here keeps getting bigger.
Looking for some fashion advice straight from Western New York? Take a look at our Buffalo.com Ask Avery series, which gives style and beauty tips to readers. Can’t make it to Lincoln Center for New York Fashion Week this year? Try heading over to the Mercedes-Benz of Buffalo Fashion Week that brings in top models and designers every year.
Not sure if Buffalo has the best stores when it comes to high fashion? Check out this video from Visit Buffalo Niagara to find high-end shops and designer looks. You can catch my drift that Buffalo is a lot more fashionable than other cities might give us credit for.
We may not drop thousands on questionably chic couture, but Buffalo is a town that knows how to look good on a reasonable budget. You may know us for our wings and snow, but we can rock a hot pair of Louboutins as well as the next city.
Here is Bundle’s infographic on the rest of the ranked cities on the list.

The article seems about right. We definitely aren’t in the Top 45.
