Fall 2011 Men’s Fashion

blog by Avery Hartmans • August 15, 2011 @ 4:36pm
When it comes to men’s fashion, there’s no better time than the fall. After a summer of baggy cargo shorts, rubber flip-flops and the dreaded tank top, autumn is a time to give your wardrobe the sartorial boost I’m sure it desperately needs.
This fall is all about European styling with an American twist. Think well-fitting jeans, fabrics like wool and tweed, and details that will set your ensemble above all the rest. Take a cue from these stylish gentlemen and dress to impress.
Men, this is what I want for you. I don’t expect everyone to be as rugged and outrageously toned as Daniel Craig, but his style is easy to mimic. His jeans actually fit him and aren’t residing 6 inches too low, he chose a great pair of wing-tip shoes, and he kept it simple on top with a wool shawl-collar cardigan over a white v-neck tee. Throw on a pair of gold aviators like James Bond here and your ensemble will be complete.

Mad Men Collection shawl-collar cardigan, Banana Republic - $150
Made in the USA 505® Straight Jeans, Levi’s - $178
The new deep v-neck T, Gap - $16.95
Redbird lace-up shoe, Aldo - $125
Joe Jonas easily nailed the military look that’s all the rage for fall. From his combat boots to black shades and beanie, Jonas seems hardcore without looking like he’s in costume. I say “seems” because this is Joe Jonas we’re talking about, after all. Also, look at that dog.

Standard Cloth Asymmetrical Pullover Hoodie, Urban Outfitters - $58

Electric Knoxville sunglasses, Sunglass Hut - $110
This Italian gentleman combined two of my favorite looks for fall: a slim blazer and visible patterned socks. With a polka-dotted shirt underneath and khaki pants, he accomplished a classic, dressed-up look with a twist. But the blazer can also be worn with jeans to keep it a little more casual, like Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine:
Get the look:
Blazer, H&M - $69.95
1969 skinny fit jeans, Gap - $49.95
Hawkings McGill Desert boot, Urban Outfitters - $78
Mixed plaid shirt, Banana Republic - $64.50
Corgi lightweight pattern socks, J. Crew - $28
